Onion Blooms

Blooming onion

Think of those edible blooming onions  and now think of that onion on fabric.  Cook with the onion flesh and save the outer dried skins for the dye pot.

Onion dyed fabric is especially  on-yummy!!  Especially in the middle of a cold winter streak!

Onion–sample and folded

The small piece is from the sample pot.  And the larger piece is a shibori fold.

I used the outer skin from  yellow skin onions and the fabric was pre-mordanted (with alum) cotton fabric.
