Blue Alchemy

Today’s post is a movie review.  But, it is about sustainable dyeing!!  If you have the chance, RUN, don’t walk and catch the movie BLUE ALCHEMY!!  You can purchase your own copy, too.

Click here for the movie’s home site where you can view a trailer/teaser!!

BLUE ALCHEMY presents Indigo as a dye, but more importantly as an element of culture; as employment; and even as an agent of change.  It’s fascinating to see how it’s used around the world.  There are various plants and different ways of processing.  It’s used to dip, to print.  Famously it’s used in shibori and blue jeans.  Folks have cherished indigo and fought over it.  I learned a lot about it and I had some misconceptions that were corrected.

This is a short post…I want to get back to MY indigo pot!!
