I’m on a roll…with the newest dye pots giving nice yellows. I tried a couple other plants from my walks.
Chicory can be great in coffee — how about the dye pot? The downside is that there aren’t very many flowers, but I got an interesting greenish yellow. Not much color, but interesting.
My big find (drum roll, please) is Black Locust. I pulled some leaves from the tree. They didn’t look like much in the dye pot, but check out the color. Nice, bright acidy yellow. Like the wild carrot, it’s not my favorite color, but I’m anxious to see it with indigo. And, another advantage…there should be leaves into autumn.
